A Divisive Associate

The former PM's foray to bring the pro-Trump media model to the UK has drawn her nearer to divisive personalities such as Solomon.

He set up the platform following backlash following accusations of circulating inaccurate reports about Joe Biden's anticorruption effort in Ukraine, as well as controversial stories about the former US ambassador to the region.

His claims were echoed throughout the pro-Trump media, with Solomon appearing as a frequent visitor on the prominent cable news broadcast. Donald Trump promoted Solomon's reporting.

While Truss's stilted style and political travails have drawn derision within the UK, some US observers do not dismiss her efforts to reinvent herself as a British branch of the Make America Great Again press.

"You have to take folks like that seriously, although you may not want to take them literally," commented Rob Flaherty, who was employed in the Biden White House.

"It was evident how in the recent campaign President Trump used that ecosystem to get his message out. Undoubtedly that sphere spreads and shapes conversation internationally. It seems quite apparent to me that the circumstances in the UK are similar to what enabled this parallel press sphere to flourish in America."

"The internet transcends national boundaries," he said. "There is a certain milieu within which content circulates – on occasion manifesting in radical ways and other times more moderately – but which is connected."

The academic said the rise of the digital conservative movement in the United Kingdom lately meant the "possibility to have a growing impact is significant."
