Royal Air Force Typhoon FGR4s have conducted a mission with French warplanes in a combined operation against an hidden munitions depot in Syria used by the Islamic State group (IS), as stated by the UK's MoD.
The facility, identified by intelligence, was assessed as storing arms and explosives, the statement said, and was situated in hills just north of the historic site of Palmyra in the heart of Syria.
"Our fighter planes utilized laser-guided Paveway IV weapons to target a number of entry passages leading to the site... early reports indicate the strike was effective," the ministry announced.
There was no sign of any civilian impact in the operation late on Saturday and every plane involved returned safely, the defence officials confirmed.
The British jets were assisted by a Voyager aerial refuelling aircraft.
